Fats, grease, and oil are among the primary causes of residential pipeline and sewer main clogs, resulting in sewer spills and overflows.

Disposal of liquids in the trash is not allowed.

The collected cooking oil is recycled into biodiesel through Yokayo Biofuels.

Program Description: The mission of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano is to alleviate hunger and provide an efficient, coordinated system for collecting and distributing food that reduces food waste and increases public awareness regarding hunger and foods security issues in Contra Costa and Solano counties.

Donations are accepted at the Fairfield warehouse. Pickup may be available for large corporate donations.

Perishable Food
such as produce, bread, fresh fish, meat, and fruits.
Fresh produce from backyard gardens.

Packaged Food
Must be in manufacturer’s container and unopened. This includes breads, crackers, cereals, canned goods, and frozen foods.

Other
Paper bags, unopened toiletries (shampoo, soap), toilet paper and cleaning products.


Not Accepted
Prepared Food: Food prepared in a facility approved by County Environmental Health such as salads, casseroles, and desserts.

ALSO no pet food. See you local animal shelter.
